Excipients of the product in capsule form are calcium and titanium compounds, cellulose and gelatin. The tablets contain excipients such as calcium stearate and methylcellulose. Only the active substance has an effect on the body. The remaining components have a very low concentration and do not affect health. They are necessary in order to form a capsule or tablet.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacokinetics
When the drug is administered orally, 77-80% of the taken dose of mebicar enters the blood, up to 40% of which is bound by erythrocytes.
The rest of the active substance does not bind to blood plasma proteins and is found in the plasma in a free form, therefore it is freely distributed throughout the body and freely overcomes cell membranes.
The maximum concentration of mebicar in the blood is reached after 0.5 hours, and the high level remains for 3-4 hours, then gradually decreases.
The half-life is 8 hours.
Mebicar is completely excreted from the body in urine and feces within 24 hours.
The drug does not undergo biochemical transformations and does not accumulate in the body.
Pharmacodynamics
Adaptol has moderate tranquilizing activity, eliminates or weakens restlessness, anxiety, fear, internal emotional tension and irritability.
Adaptol acts on the activity of structures included in the limbic-reticular complex, in particular, on the emotiogenic zones of the hypothalamus, and also has an effect on all 4 main neurotransmitter systems - GABA, choline, serotonin and adrenergic, promoting their balance and integration, but not has a peripheral adrenergic effect.
The tranquilizing effect of the drug is not accompanied by muscle relaxation and impaired coordination of movements. On this basis, Adaptol® is called a “daytime tranquilizer.”
It does not have a hypnotic effect, but enhances the effect of sleeping pills and improves sleep in case of sleep disturbances.
Adaptol eases or relieves nicotine withdrawal.
Pharmacological action of Adaptol
The drug belongs to the group of anxiolytic drugs. The active substance has identical properties, similar to natural metabolites produced by the human body. The product has an identical structure to some components of urea.
The medication has a stimulating effect on systems related to limbic and reticular functions, having a direct effect on the hypothalamus and its zones. In this case, there is an effect on the emotional parts of the hypothalamus and neurotransmitters. However, the drug does not have an adrenergic blocking effect.
The components of the medicine help eliminate anxiety, worry and fear, reducing psycho-emotional stress and irritability. At the same time, the metabolites are not addictive and do not interfere with basic psychomotor functions, including coordination of movement and reactions.
The drug does not have a negative effect on mental and intellectual processes and does not reduce the body’s motor ability. There is an absence of any euphoric states when using the product.
The medication does not have a pronounced sedative effect, but has a direct effect on drugs that have a hypnotic effect. In connection with this. It is often used as part of complex therapy for any sleep disorders.
