Depression is a very common disease of the 21st century that affects all people, regardless of gender and age. This disease is very serious and requires the immediate intervention of specialized doctors. Due to the fact that this disease is very common these days, there is a huge variety of techniques and methods for treating this disease.

The Salvation clinic employs highly qualified specialists who select an individual approach to each patient. For each person suffering from depression, the clinic’s specialists will select a variety of approaches and methods of treatment.

Specialists prescribe treatment for patients depending on the degree of its complexity and the cause of its occurrence.

The methods provided for treating depression are varied and highly effective. However, the most common treatment for this type of psychological disorder is antidepressants. The main effect of these drugs is that they have a huge impact on the human body and its mental state.

Depression folk remedies

The healer, like a good psychologist, looked into our eyes to understand what we wanted to hear. She read sarcasm and disbelief in my eyes, so she communicated directly with my mother.

While the grandmother was “pumping out my damage” with an egg, my mother was trying to find out everything she was interested in about folk remedies for treating depression, so to speak, first-hand.

The fight against depression with traditional methods, as it turns out, consists mainly of herbal medicine. The grandmother said that there are herbs and potions that help with nerve diseases, insomnia, anxiety, irritability, neuroses and help relieve tension during stress. When a person is outwardly doing well, like me, but inside there is a painful black hole, then this, according to the healer, is nothing more than damage.

I don’t believe in corruption and all this nonsense, and my mother completely agrees with me. People are accustomed to abdicating responsibility, shifting it onto mythical bad people who do damage, trying to explain the inexplicable in a medieval way. Mom hoped that treating depression with folk remedies meant using ancient recipes, harmless analogues of modern antidepressants, but she was disappointed.

In general, then treating depression with folk remedies did not help me; a month later I felt worse. This was not surprising to me: fighting my worsening depression with folk remedies using eggs and muttering prayers even sounds funny. I felt sorry for my mother and held on with all my might for her sake. I hid from her how unbearably hard it was for me to live, with what joy I thought about death and how sorry I was that I couldn’t die right now...

And my mother continued to look for a folk remedy for treating depression for me, drawing on all sources of information where I could learn at least something about how to treat depression with alternative methods.

Treatment with antidepressants

Basically, antidepressants help improve mood, improve sleep patterns, increase appetite, eliminate apathy, anxiety, fear of aggression, and more. With their help, it is possible to increase mental activity and normalize the patient’s emotional state. Thus, it becomes clear that this drug is highly effective in the fight against this disease.

However, our clinic’s specialists do not prescribe these medications to their patients every time. This is because depression comes in many varieties, some of which can be treated without medication.

This scenario is only possible if depression is not at a serious level.

Folk remedies for depression in the modern world

So, treatment of depression with folk remedies. Mom studied this topic so deeply that she could probably write a scientific paper about it.

For example, my mother tried to find out how depression was treated with folk remedies 100-200 years ago. It turned out that there was no way, since there was no such disease.

It turned out that depression is a young disease and appeared relatively recently. Then this fact seemed paradoxical to me. Yes, the life of a modern person is difficult and multitasking, it is full of reasons for stress, but can our difficulties be compared with the problems of our ancestors? After all, no one will kill you for an unpaid loan, and 100 years ago people literally fought for physical survival, experienced famine, wars, and epidemics.

Surely my ancestor 100 years ago did not think about how to get rid of depression using folk remedies, but was glad to survive the cold winter, harvest, and eat a piece of bread. And I, young and healthy, am sitting in my warm and comfortable apartment on the eighth floor and struggling with my only desire - to throw myself out of the window.

Thoughts of suicide during depression are a separate issue. My existence has really become incompatible with life. Internal pain followed me everywhere, it was unbearable, devouring from the inside. “Why do you live, you stupid, superstitious people? Why are you suffering? Why am I suffering with you? For what?" My world was a real hell, my personal hell, which only I felt.

Even in the books of the classics there is no mention of depression and folk remedies. And today even children suffer from depression.

Later, this paradox was resolved - my mother found information that helped us uncover the cause-and-effect relationships of depression, we found answers on how to get out of this state on our own. But more on that later, first let’s talk about treating depression with folk remedies.

Is it possible to cure depression without antidepressants?

Depression is a mental disorder characterized by decreased mood and loss of the ability to feel joy, impaired thinking and motor retardation. This disease requires complex treatment, and pharmacotherapy is not the only way to overcome it.

In addition to the use of antidepressants, the following are also used to treat depression:

  • various medications (neuroleptics, vitamin and amino acid preparations, mood stabilizers, drugs for neurometabolic therapy);
  • psychotherapy with individual selection of techniques;
  • physiotherapy (procedures are prescribed based on the characteristics of the patient’s condition);
  • shock therapy (such techniques are rarely used and exclusively under the supervision of doctors in a hospital setting).

Non-drug treatment is justified in cases of mild depression and larved (hidden) depression. If the patient suffers from a moderate to severe disorder, then drug therapy is mandatory.

Drug treatment

Antidepressants are not the only medications for depression; the patient may be prescribed:

  • neuroleptics (if there are contraindications to antidepressants);
  • mood stabilizers (mood stabilizers);
  • vitamins and amino acids (improve and normalize biological processes in the body, enhance the positive effect of other medications).

Psychotherapy

All methods of psychotherapeutic treatment for depression are divided into four groups:

  • rational psychotherapy;
  • psychodynamic psychotherapy;
  • interpersonal psychotherapy;
  • non-directive psychotherapy.

Physiotherapy

It is an auxiliary method and may include the following procedures:

  • light therapy;
  • music therapy;
  • color therapy;
  • therapeutic sleep;
  • mesodiencephalic modulation.

The following can help ease the symptoms of depression and speed up recovery:

  1. Physical exercise (a feasible 30-minute exercise several times a week is enough).
  2. Nutrition (a balanced diet promotes a speedy recovery).
  3. Sound and healthy sleep.
  4. Set goals (you need to set priorities correctly, break complex tasks into smaller ones and try to implement them).
  5. Taking responsibility (with depression, there is a desire to hide and run away from everything, new responsibilities help to gain ground under one’s feet and give a feeling of accomplishment).
  6. Relaxation (you don’t need to wait for it to come by itself, you should choose a time and place and allow yourself to relax).

Depression - treatment with folk remedies

Mom looked on forums for reviews of people who wrote about folk remedies for depression, and tried to apply their advice. Although I understood that most of them would not help me in any way.

For example, proper nutrition. This is one of the traditional methods of treating depression. Or advice on how to start a hobby, go shopping, or get yourself out of the house. In a word, unwind - one might say, modern folk remedies for depression. Suitable for those who are sad and lonely, that is, those who call their bad mood depression, as well as those who are experiencing a breakup or the loss of a loved one.

Articles about folk remedies for treating depression also advised drinking a lot of water and taking vitamins and minerals. Well, this is very good for your health in general, but in my opinion, the person who writes this has no idea what depression is.

In general, in most public posts about whether depression can be treated with folk remedies, they did not mean depression at all.

After all, if you are haunted by a feeling of complete meaninglessness of your existence for no apparent reason, if you are consumed by internal pain, if you want to fall asleep and never wake up again, this will not help. It is pointless to treat real depression with folk methods of this kind, since its cause is much deeper.

Antidepressants are not a panacea

Many experts consider psychotherapy a priority in treating depression without antidepressants. So, at the initial stage of the disease and in some forms, its techniques and means make it possible to do without drug treatment.

The use of antidepressants in some cases does not prevent the possibility of suicide or alcohol abuse. Of great importance is a person’s attitude, his determination to overcome a negative state, which in itself already puts the sick person in a more advantageous position.

A person who decides to change his life perceives himself as a real fighter, and not an obedient puppet, and understands that the health of the body largely depends on him alone.

Modern folk treatment of depression: collective psychoanalysis

While trying to rid me of depression with folk remedies, my mother accidentally made a discovery that put everything in its place.

On one of the forums, a person left a review that he got rid of many years of chronic depression with the help of System-Vector Psychology by Yuri Burlan. Then we found many such reviews, and from that moment everything began to change. I received answers to all my questions about alternative traditional treatments for depression, about myself, about this world, about humanity and even more.

First, I realized where my father and I were prone to depression.

I always knew that I was not like everyone else. I was interested in questions that seemed strange to others. Why does humanity exist? Who am I, why was I born, why do I live, what is the meaning in my life?

And dad was not like everyone else. I read strange books, had little interest in material issues, and studied various religions one after another.

It turned out that my dad and I are sound engineers, or, more precisely, the owners of a sound vector. There are only 5% of such people, and only people with sound, deep, thoughtful, “not of this world” are prone to depression. The only folk remedy for depression that can help a sound specialist is systemic psychoanalysis, since only it can reveal the cause of this condition.

Mom was right when she said that a person gets sick if he lacks something. She simply could not know what exactly I was missing. But I lacked knowledge of myself, the meaning of life, the design of the universe. Knowledge of what was hidden in the unconscious, my innate unconscious desires. No folk remedies for depression can provide this awareness.

Each person is born with his own desires and properties for their implementation - vectors. The trouble is that we are not aware of them. Without realizing his desires, a person does not realize them, shortcomings accumulate in his psyche, and therefore he begins to suffer and get sick.

The innate desire in the sound vector is the desire to understand the metaphysical, to reveal the properties of the human soul or at least the laws of inanimate nature. Sometimes sound engineers unconsciously find ways to realize themselves - they become writers, composers, scientists, programmers, inventors. And if they don’t find it and try to live like everyone else, symptoms of depression appear. Not a bad mood, but a persistent, severe condition that accompanies you day after day, and this depression cannot be overcome by traditional methods of treatment - herbs and infusions.

Secondly, it became clear to me why depression appeared only recently, in a modern, well-fed and safe world, and why there are no ancient folk remedies for depression.

The fact that humanity is in a continuous process of development is an undeniable fact. Each next generation is smarter, more progressive, more talented than the previous one. However, only system-vector psychology reveals the fact that this development occurs due to an increase in desires and, at the same time, the potential for the realization of these desires.

That is, if the desires of sound artists of previous generations were filled with religion, music, literature, poetry, today these desires are too voluminous, deep and do not find appropriate fulfillment. More and more sound workers are suffering from symptoms of depression: insomnia, headaches, feelings of inner emptiness, and suicidal thoughts. No folk remedies will help with depression if sound desires are not realized and fulfilled.

Thirdly, my depression went away on its own during collective psychoanalysis at the training on system-vector psychology by Yuri Burlan.

With each lecture, with each article, it became easier and easier for me - because on the path of knowledge my innate desires were filled. All depressed sound people who underwent training with me received the same result, which is why I call systemic psychoanalysis the only effective folk remedy for depression.
